Kira Stonestrike

Kira Stonestrike

Meet Kira!

Kira is a young woman from 'South Ward', a small district in Stormwind's Old Town. She doesn't think about her past too much, so you really shouldn't either. People who keep going on about their tragic backstories are a bit annoying, aren't they?

All you really need to know is that Kira was adopted by her Big-Sis Wren, loves hanging out with her mates at the local market, and lives each day like it's her last!

If you just can't help yourself and need to know more then read on; but prepare for a big juicy load of exposition...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

... No, seriously, it's a lot.

What the hell is a South Ward?

It's a small chunk of Old Town, an unofficial district that runs from the western canal leading to Trade all the way down to the southern border wall with Elwynn. Unlike those pesky Northwarders, South Ward has a strong tight-knit community of vibrant characters who all have their own lives, stories and dreams.

Kira has lived here pretty much her whole life with Wren, but we'll talk more about her later.

South Ward really has it all; markets, grocery stores, a tailors, butchers, and even an old hotel.

Unlike the rest of Old Town which is both poor and dangerous, South Ward is just poor. After the district was destroyed time and time again, first by the orcs, and then by Deathwing, South Ward has continued to rebuild over the ruins of the old. Some entrances to lower layers still exist and are in use to this day, through ladders and trapdoors down to the underground cellars, basements and collapsed buildings sunken under the earth by the Cataclysm.

While the surface is built of more modern, sometimes ramshackle constructions, the deeper you go the older things get. It's well known that Midtown is a hotbed for smugglers and gangs, and The Deep? It's better to stay out of them if you have any intention of living.

The Roses

What's the point of living if you're not living it with your besties? Kira takes this to heart, and fills her time by spending it among her closest friends. In some way, they're all weird, or lame, outcasts either by their own choice or no choice of their own, but to Kira they're the people who mean the most to her.

Tobbin is probably the geekiest of the bunch. He's a gnome who's not a South Ward native, rather living and spending most of his time in central square at the Cathedral of Holy Light. As an acolyte training to become a healer, Tobbin takes his gnomish brain and applies predictive formulae and statistics to know exactly when the Light will help. Kira makes sure to remind him about how nerdy he sounds, but Tobbin always gives as good as he gets.

Drake is the next, and he's a few years older than the rest of them. He takes himself far too seriously and has reluctantly assumed the role of the 'mature' one, even though oftentimes he's just as childish as the rest of them. Drake is certain that someone, sometime, will beg to know about his horrible traumatic past... it's just that no one has actually bothered to ask yet.

Finally, Kira's closest friend and ally is Rosie. As a Dracthyr, she initially found herself isolated from the rest of South Ward but it was Kira who showed her that she too can find a community who cares about her. Rosie's history as The Emberlin, a Dracthyr infused with immense pyromantic power, is hardly even recognised by Kira and the rest of the group who is named after her. They know her as the silent, yet kind, caring, generous, and honest woman who always has their back.

Designer? I hardly knew her!

What's the point in doing cool things if you're not looking cool doing it? That's another mantra that Kira has taken up, and it defines a great deal of her life. Kira found it frustrating to grow up and find that not only everyone around her had terrible fashion choices, but also that they had become complacent and no longer try to look good. When Kira decided what she'd give back to her community, she knew it had to be giving them a sense of style they sorely lack.

Kira works at Adrienne's Tailors, a shop down by the canal, and hopes to create her own designs for a line of clothing that will fulfill this dream. It's gotta be affordable, it's gotta be built to last because fast fashion is a crime, and it's obviously got to look good! Adrienne has promised to give Kira the chance to sell her clothes at the shop front and centre... all she has to do is make something worth wearing.

It's Elemental

If Kira wasn't interesting enough, she's also got magic. Hasn't everyone nowadays?

As an elementalist, elemancer, mage, whatever you want to call it, Kira has the ability to control the four primal elements of Earth, Air, Water and Fire.

These powers haven't been granted to her by some elemental spirit, however. She's been able to create her own intrinsic connection to the elements themselves, and therefore her control over them is a lot more personal.

Kira's primary element, the one she is most attuned to, is earth. She has however practiced controlling air and water too, but currently struggles to create fire at all. It's a good thing that she has her sister here, which leads us into...

Wren, The Flame Panther

The undisputed champion of South Ward.

Wren came here ten years ago after travelling the world and training to become a master martial artist, only to settle down in South Ward to find a community for her own.

What she found when she got to South Ward though was a place rife with crime, crippled by syndicates and gangs, the people scared to even leave their own homes.

Wren took it upon herself to singlehandedly obliterate every single trace of criminal influence in this part of the city, and created a town that continues to flourish under her protection.

Ten years is a long time, however, and Wren's flames have begun to dull. With no successor, no one to take up the mantle, ten years of continuous conflict and strife in wars against the underworld continue to grate on her... even as she does her best to be a good sister and mentor for Kira.

For as long as anyone remembers, there has not been a South Ward without Wren.

But what would happen if something were to happen to her, one day?

It might all come crumbling down.

Treasure of South Ward

Kira's current adventures have taken her and her friends to discover a mystery deep under South Ward.

A fortune left by the late Journathan Southerway, the Roses have decided to uncover the location of these surely countless riches and claim it for themselves... but even they can't believe it would be that easy!
